Yeah, JWB, I get where you're coming from. Many cops do have to put their personal thoughts on the back burner. I guess it's just a matter of opinion whether that's something admirable (sacrificing their own beliefs to enforce the laws that society chooses) or not (they're just doing it for the money), although I might just be too idealistic.
