Well I tend to agree, I like black metal because I enjoy the somber tone of the vocals, the grinding guitars however become really monotonous and boring after awhile, few black metal bands can actually write a captivating song.
Which is why I would have thrown Dimmur Borgir's Enthrone album on there (despite criticism of their commercial accessibility), the symphonic black metal pioneers tends to be my favourite because there is a lot of melody built in.
Which is why I would have also put down Anthems to the Welkin at Dust for the Emperor album, its by far the more interesting of their two notables.
Finally, Immortals At the Heart of Winter is another good one.
Anyways time to tally up, this survivor is going to slllloooowww to captivate my interest.
