Title: (deep breath) The idler wheel is wiser than the driver of the screw and whipping cords will
serve you better than ropes will ever do
Artiste: Fiona Apple
Genre: Singer-Songwriter/Jazz
Love
Minimalist nature of the opening track; certainly serves to highlight her vocal talent
“Werewolf” is pretty good
So is “Periphery”
“Regret” is really nice
Okay. I'm feeling it now.
Hate
Second one I'm not so mad about; kind of harsh and bitter
Meh: it's good and she's talented but I'm just not feeling it at the moment (about track four)
“Hot knife”'s a bit annoying
End result: I started off thinking it was good, got bored, regained my interest, got
very interested, thought it was good and ended up thinking yeah, not bad. Not blown away though.
So, Love or Hate? On balance,
Love.
