Well as I said in the article a) Black Axe is kind of a more metal name (though Wolf is good too) and b) there already was an English band called Wolf in existence, so confusion must have abounded. By and large though, I guess they may just have been one of the very many bands handled by a crappy label who didn't know much about promoting a new band (especially in a new kind of music that was rising) and only cared about hits. Unfortunately the NWOBHM era was lousy with them, and it's the reason many (not all) of the bands who did not make it failed. Take the money and run, seemed to be the idea.
I do wonder though where the idea of "a forgotten classic" came from. They didn't impress me really much at all.
