You've got to have that brutality and raw, primal energy in your Metalcore, Batty I get that. I'm the opposite, or rather like the mix of both the brutality, and melodic aspect. If I get this kickass growl or scream through epic, expansive verses, and then there's a nice pre chorus before a chorus that's got some really killer clean, melodic vocals...I'm sold. But it's not always this basic, or boring approach like you point out. I think that melodic aspect can really compliment a largely aggressive song well. Trivium isn't the best example of that but you can get an idea what I mean.

I've never dabbled a whole lot in Unearths discography, but I've know of them since middle school, had friends that loved them. Killswitch was introduced to me when I was in middle school. I like Jesse over Howard, not only because Jesse is the original, but I think that even though Howard was more technically versed, Jesse always fit better, a bit more raw and it adds an element to the bands music that was missing after Jesse left the first time.

I'm familiar with all the other bands you posted up. I'm not huge on them but they're in my music library.

I do get what you mean about the melodic side of Metalcore. Because it does sort of have a small space for growth or not a lot different that can be done with it. Not a lot of variation, like you said.
