The Batlord

Melodic metalcore is largely a boring as **** genre, but there's some gold to be found. Only problem being that I can only take so much before I have to go listen to something else, as there isn't a whole lot in the way of variation.


Along with Killswitch, these guys kind of kickstarted the whole thing, and they still sound pretty sweet.




I have a lot more respect for PtH than I do other bands, as they actually have a unique sound.




My guilty pleasure band. They're Johnny Come Lately's who basically piggy backed on an already played out genre, but they really know how to rip off the earlier bands while using quasi-thrash to add more bite than most.




A very hit-or-miss band for me, but this song has one hell of a riff.




Here are some of the bands that were the transition from hardcore to what we think of as metalcore. Far superior for the most part.

Poison the Well were a band that were more influential than they were successful, but without them all those bands above may not have come along.




Anybody exploring metalcore has to listen to Converge. It's just a must. Though they sound nothing like most of the above bands.




Ringworm are metalcore that's closer to hardcore than metal. Primitive ****.




Another ugly as **** transitional hardcore band.




Arkangel are probably my personal fav metalcore band. Brutal as ****, with some tasty thrash and death metal riffs.
