Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum. It is nice to find a group of people who appreciate music as much as I do.

One of the main reasons I joined here is I plan to start up a project that hopefully some of you will want to participate in.

Every week I will choose a new artist/band. Throughout that week, I will listen to every song by the band (all studio albums, EPs, live albums, and greatest hits). My goal is to determine my favorite five songs for each band/artist. I figure if I am already doing this, why not have people join me? This will be kind of like a book club where a group of people read the same book during the week then report back. So, when I announce the band/artist of the week each Sunday, I hope to post a playlist of all of the songs (most likely a link to my Grooveshark account). This will be for everyone's convenience.

Even if you likely know the five songs you will choose, I strongly encourage you to give all of the songs a new listen, just in case things have changed. I think that is part of the fun, revisiting some songs a person may not have listened to for a while.

Also, I plan to include a decent variety of bands/artists; some popular and others not as popular, a lot will be rock/alternative but I will also include some other genres as well.

I expect this to be a fun and interesting project and I look forward to people from Music Banter joining. I also hope to get some friends/family to join on here too.

If anyone has suggestions on how to enhance this project, feel free to share your ideas.

Lastly, I do not think people need to rank their favorite five 1-5 but instead top 5 in any order is fine. If any of you are like me, the top 5 may be in a different order depending on the week.

I look forward to meeting many of you, hearing different perspectives on the best songs from each artist/band, and also some interesting discussions on a variety of different bands/songs.

Even if you feel you will likely dislike a band I post, why not check them out anyway? At some points I will try to push everyone out of their comfort zone a little bit, even myself. :-)

At 52 weeks per year and one band per week, I can see this project going on for many years to come. Even if you miss a specific week and still wish to participate, I have zero issues with you completing each week as you find time. I by no means will say you missed the deadline so cannot contribute.

Anyways, thank you in advance to reading this post, and I should have my first band/artist of the week posted this upcoming Sunday!
