This piqued my interest when I saw that it was a compilation album from a satanic blackened death metal band, but it was not quite what I was expecting (Sarcó
fago, because there is nothing more satanic than what those guys put out).
That cover gives me a bit of a boner to be honest, and it had me distracted for most of the time I was listening to this, but that is mostly because the music leaves a lot to be desired. The first track is some dark ambience, but it cannot hold a candle to something like the intro to
Blessed Are the Sick, or
The Return. The comp. stumbles till the fifth track which is an acoustic ambient track, and then, much to my surprise, “Angels Blood” is actually decent. It is not quite head banging, it is close, but it is much better than everything before it. The next track is okay, but then, oh my, we have “Spawn of Azathoth” which is Sarcóf
ago-like, and that intro is just... fantastic! So far, the second half of this compilation is much better than the first. All of these tracks are FAR too long, by like, leaps and bounds. "Spawn of Azathoth" is the only track that is a good length, everything else just goes on and on and on.
Blargh. Not much else to say here.
