One of the many things that I love about post-rock is the way it helps me relax. It's definitely got to do with that I find repetitiveness relaxing. Yeah, I know that seems weird, but I could listen to a song that exceeds 20 minutes long, and if it's the same rhythm the entire time, i'm happy. I have also experimented with post-rock and sleep, and for me it does work. If i'm comfortable having headphones on or having a dock on, I could easily fall asleep to it. I don't do it anymore, but I used to enjoy it. I can sleep pretty well either way now. Some really good examples of what I would listen to will be posted below: You'll notice that I pick a lot of Sigur Ros songs to set examples for this type of thing, but that's just what I've always found to happen when I listen to Sigur Ros. I really enjoy them for their talent, but they're also great when you just want to sit back and relax.

Spoiler for relaxation:

The way this song starts really helps my mind ease up a lot. That sudden bass just really makes my nerves go numb and helps me sit back and enjoy the night. It's an 8 minute song and this is a very good example of repetitiveness done correctly.

I pretty much love everything about this song. The musicianship and vocals are just perfectly in sync. It comes in at almost 7 minutes, and it could easily be some of the best 7 minutes you'll ever experience in post-rock. At 3:20 is where it starts to get a little emotional for me for some reason. This is a song that I would have no trouble featuring in my "heartbreak" section. I just find the minimal instrumentals very...saddening in a way. Not like that's a bad thing.

Another song I would definitely class as being perfect for trying to relax. It's got that really mellow feel to it and it just makes you feel at one with yourself. This comes off of the All is Violent, All Is Bright album, which in my opinion is one of their best releases to date. That's definitely biased since it was the first album I heard from them and that opinion has yet to change.
