Very well put sir! I can't say I've ever been much of a metalhead at all, but I do have a soft spot for artists who, as you say, move metal into more untraditional territories. Not sure how good of an example this is, but I've always had that impression about Eye Of the Storm by Neurosis, which has become a real favourite of mine in the years since I've had it.
Definitely gonna be checking this album out when I can, sounds pretty special judging by the videos. Good post.
