Let Me Judge Your Music

Ornette Coleman - Blues Connotation

Okay of to quick start on this one. Very cool theme from the sax and trumpet, and as quickly as it starts the sax gets a solo. Obviously a lot of technical ability here, the drummer is a damn clock, and the bassist is doing some very note-worthy runs up and down the neck. The sax just keeps going alternating between more slow melodic sections and extremely quick rhythmic excursions. Oh **** the trumpet is up, very speedy and quite melodic. Drums are giving a nice little little solo although i don't think he's hitting the hi-hat which bothers me for some reason. Back to the little theme, and it ends. To be honest I really enjoyed that a lot, the playing was great, the theme was kind of light-hearted and fun, the rhythm section was tight, and altogether just a really cool jazz chart, so I'll definitely have to listen to more from Mr. Coleman because between this and the other minuscule amount of work I've heard from the guy it's right up my alley in jazz.
Thanks for the pick Frown!
