A lot of debate judges write in cursive and it makes their ballots exceptionally hard to understand. That's why I'm really happy that it looks like electronic balloting is becoming the norm. That said, some people flow (take notes, although there's a specific format for it) on their laptops, and I could never do that - I've tried, and my flow is way better organized, more complete, and more useful when I do it by hand. (Also, because the way you flow involves abbreviations everywhere, spellcheck is a massive pain if you type.)
