I like the bands but theres something about the musical composition of Thrash that just grates on me. Its hard to explain (and I'm bad at explaining why I like or dislike something to begin with), but I think its more the rhythm of the guitarists and bass than whether its melodic. The instruments keeps roughly the same rhythmic pace for the entire album, with a few breaks that speed up or slow down. Some of these also have random slow atmospheric parts which I honestly think don't add anything to the album as a whole. Maybe I've just listened to way too much Thrash lately! Although maybe I just dislike something inherent to the genre. I heard someone say that if you like Jazz or Classical you'll probably like Power Metal, and if you like slower Rock you'll like Thrash, and I really don't like slow Rock! So at some point I'll listen to all the Thrash you recommended back to back and see if I can't break through my natural dislike of Thrash. These are more enjoyable than most of the Thrash I've listen to though.
I'm used to listening to Metal like Galneryus - The Ironhearted Flag. The number of tempo changes in this is absurd. Not to mention the number of amazing guitar solos (or instrumentals), personally I love their ascent but some people don't as a word of warning. (Don't take terms like tempos, rhythm, pacing and other terms as if I actually know what they mean. I'm just trying to describe what I'm hearing and failing ^^) Honestly though I can't explain why I like one thing over another except in broad concepts. There have been songs that I can objectively tell are very similar to eachother, but I'll love one and hate the other. Its weird that I typically like Death Metal and Black Metal more than I like Thrash though. They do everything I can identify in Thrash that I don't like.
I liked Overkill. Probably because they are playing really fast. I also liked Transcending Bizarre?, Carcass, and Stormlord. Bolt Thrower is nice but hard to listen to. Thanks for the recs!
Edit: I meant The Ironhearted Flag Vol. 2. Not that Vol. 1 is bad or anything, I think every Galneryus album is amazing actually.
