Pedis are kind of iffy for me, as in my youth I used to cut my nails WAY too short, and so I now have ingrown toenails (used to have ingrown fingernails, but those are better now). They're not so bad in my smaller toes, and getting better, but my big toes are almost beyond saving. I regularly have to dig into the sides, cut deep into the crevices, and yank out chunks of nail that are literally gouging into my skin. It's not uncommon to come away with pieces of skin attached to the piece of nail, or even to have to cut so close to skin at the edge of the nail front that it bleeds.
I actually had what I suppose could be considered surgery on one of my big toes years ago. They used some kind of anesthesia that sprayed super-cold air onto my toe to numb it, and cut into the skin with a scalpel to remove the offending bit of nail (was big and totally gnarly). They put it into a tiny jar of alcohol that I tried to keep, but to no avail. Unfortunately it came back, making the entire procedure irrelevant. Both toes, and both sides of the toe are equally ****ed.
How's that for TMI?
