The vocalist and I don't get along well, but the instrumentation is solid. Also, they are partly thrash.

You might dig their A Night at the Opera album. The guitar isn't as high in the mix as most metal albums, giving the music more of an ensemble feel (like an orchestra), and the vocals are the centerpiece (like opera). The arrangements are pretty fancy as well.

I'm familiar with Iced Earth, they're great. I don't like that blind guardian album. I would much rather listen to the album Briks posted, though that's not saying much. Virgin Steele is just middle of the road.

You recommended these to JohnWilkesBooth recently. And I think I may like Persuade better than blind guardian, but they are only barely better.
