25. Overkill - Taking Over - (1987)




Overkill are perhaps better known for The Years of Decay or Horrorscope, but they were never more raw or mean than on their first two albums. Taking Over, their sophomore album, is stripped-down, brutal speed metal that sounds like Iron Maiden's train just came off its rails. It may not be as polished as later albums, but the energy levels of this thrash classic are just off the charts. And how can I not mention the Human Air Raid Siren, Bobby "Blitz" ****ing Ellsworth? Dude's a madman of a singer and anyone who doesn't like his voice is a pussy and that's all there is to it.
