I think the Social Group would be better for ideas like a new journal theme. A place to kick ideas around before committing to them. This way a person can change his mind without be hounded with questions like "Where's that new journal you promised?"
But for general questions and comments, this thread would be better. Maybe use it for question of the week or whatever time it takes to gets suitably answered. Questions like e.g.
