There's always going to be that first impression, and "Star Wars" (**** this "A new hope" -- it'll always be Star Wars to me!) was one of the first sf movies I ever went to see, so yeah I'll usually put it above the others. But that doesn't always hold true. "Star Trek: the Motion Picture" was terrible, so despite being the first Trek movie I do not rate it. I'm not that shallow. But you have to take into consideration that I'm one of those, when it comes to Star Wars, who queued in the rain (Ireland, remember?) to see it on its release. DVDs? We didn't even have video recorders! An impression and a memory like that is going to be hard to beat. And really, did Lucas ever surpass the first movie, if you're truthful?

But just because something is first does not always mean it's the best. With NotB however, as I've already pointed out, it wasn't just my first Iron Maiden album, but my first Heavy Metal album. I bet you've got a soft spot for the debut from Suffocation or Disembowelled Corpse or Eyes on a Stick, or whomever got you into metal?
