I think the point is that it is still sad, but not in the same way. It gained extra pathos because it looked like one thing, but when you then realise it was staged, as Batty says, it takes some of the impact away. It's sad, but not as sad. I think.
Also, what is with chickens Chula? Why should everyone have to buy into a coop?
