Hard Rock and Heavy Metal... Influenced by Aerosmith? You've got it backwards. I can understand if you like Aerosmith, but to try to claim that they were influential on every Hard Rock and Heavy Metal band is really reaching, and you know it. It's actually kind of insulting to all of the people who actually did progress the genres to that point, because it glosses right over them, as if "rock" didn't exist until Aerosmith started playing.

The fact is that Aerosmith did exactly what every other generic southern-rock band in the 70's did, sharing the same influences, and very few people cite them as a major influence. If Aerosmith hadn't existed, would the world of rock really have changed all that much? I challenge you to name one band that would have never been formed if they hadn't heard Aerosmith (and Aerosmith cover bands don't count, obviously).
