I was considering seeing him again this year but after checking out some of his recent performances on YouTube and hearing from other fans who had been to some of his recent shows, I decided to pass up the opportunity.
He cancelled the rest of his 2014 tour in early October and based on what I've seen and heard of him lately, I have a feeling that at 89 years old he's finally decided to retire from performing.

On this note, I saw Billy Joel back in March. Although he's transposed his songs lower due to losing his range, his voice still sounds fantastic and he puts on a great show. My grandma, who's seen him four times (including once on
The Stranger tour!) said he sounds every bit as good now as he did back in '77. He's also released some lovely classical-style pieces in the past few years. Of course, a digital piano is an easy instrument to transpose -- just press a couple buttons. Paul McCartney, on the other hand, sounds bloody awful, and I wish he'd transpose his stuff down. Might be more difficult on a bass, though.
