Joplin was essentially a blues singer, and in my opinion doesn't deserve consideration as "best singer ever" in a rock & metal forum. She's not even the best blues singer ever.
I would say Grace Slick is the queen of female rock vocalists, but there are several men I would rate as better rock vocalists overall.
