I'd agree with a lot of what you say about NV vs Skyrim, and would add that however much fun the combat in Skyrim is, it's not as up to snuff as NV, but the variety of environments adds a lot of depth to exploration that NV just doesn't have. I spend far more time just going places in Skyrim, and getting sidetracked by a mountain I want to climb, or a waterfall I want to go down. The towns and cities are also superior, and make the day-to-day elements of the game more immersive than NV, even if the storyline is comparatively less interesting.
