Briks tries old-school punk and new wave
Artist: The Stranglers
Album: Stranglers IV (Rattus Norvegicus)
Year: 1977
Genre: Punk rock/new wave
Alright, why is this called "Stranglers IV" when it's their first album? Must be a joke or something. Anyway, the music. It was pretty good. Less angsty and more tongue-in-cheek than Buzzcocks, and with a more likeable vocalist. The synthesizers sound like they're from a Doors album or something, I don't know. I think I've only ever heard one song by The Doors. "Peaches" stands out to me. It's an obvious choice, alright, but that bassline sure is catchy. Overall good album, and it sounds less dated than Blondie and Buzzcocks.
