55. The Jacksons-Triumph
Released in 1980 on Epic Records.
You guys already know I love the Jacksons

and was going to list one of them sooner or later lol... but in all seriousness "The Jacksons" musical group is highly underrated. For those who are interested in classic R&B/Soul/Funk/Disco you definitly have to check out "The Jacksons" disography.
Now lets get to it
Triumph is a R&B classic and a gem. It is a very underappreciated album with classics that are still played till this day. We see the Jacksons in a different light on this album. We see young men who can rightfully call themselves artists. They are now producing and writing their own music. Michael as well as his brothers Randy and Jackie did a bulk of the writing for this album. I also would like to say Randy and Jackie Jackson are very very underrated as songwriters. Jackie penned "Everybody" which is a R&B classic and that Michael effortless sung his heart out with his sexy self. The brothers also take turns in singing lead on some of the songs.
Highlights: This Place Hotel, Everybody, Lovely One, Walk Right Now, Give It Up, Time Waits For No One, Can You Feel It, Your Ways------ this is a pretty solid soul/disco R&B album. I named all the songs on the album except for one song "Wondering Who" where Jackie sings lead.
Fun fact: This Place Hotel was originally titled "Heartbreak Hotel" but the brothers changed it because they did not what their song to get confused with Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel"
The subject matter consists of love, paranoia, infidelity, relationships, loneliness, depression, and philamprothy
I also would like to say Michael penned one of the greatest songs ever written "This Place Hotel". The song is so creatively executed and the production is out of this world. The fact that he wasn't even over 21 when he wrote this song.... I just get goosebumps.
Some of the lyrics:
Hope is dead
She thought that I had cheated for another lover
I turn my back to see that I'm undercover
Now I can't convince this girl there ain't no other
Someone's evil to hurt my soul
Every smile's a trial thought
In beguile to hurt me
This is scaring me
Then the man next door had told
He's been here in tears for fifteen years
This is scaring me
