I'd appreciate not being patronized for my decision. I am fully aware that I can log off at any time, but I also was not willing to be an active member of a forum that accepted or ignored the offensive and annoying personality that was Dirty. The ban request was not some grand gesture of defiance, it was because I know myself well enough to know that I refuse to let things go when I feel they negatively affect me, the forum and society at large, and I also know this forum well enough to know that I would have been fighting alone and laughed at or banned for not just taking things as they are - "feeding the troll" or whatever you'd like to call it.
I'd also like to make it clear that I never asked Paul to follow suit, nor did I expect the kind messages and support for my decision from a handful of members that followed. I even got a phone call from Bob, just making sure I was alright.
Moments like that and the people involved in them are the reason I do love this forum, and the reason I keep coming back. I have made so many good friends here, and frankly I don't want an ******* like dirty to have the space on this forum to ruin or prevent those experiences for anyone else, and I don't think I should be expected to just deal with it. I wouldn't put up with people like him in real life and I'm not going to put up with it here.
So thank you mods, thank you Paul and Neo, and thanks to everyone who wasn't willing to watch this forum go to ****.
