I find it's best to measure GBV for the potential in their individual songs, try to hear the rhythm beyond the production value because it's usually a very melodic one.

I'll show you an exmpl of a good song with ****ty production value

Now compare that to Track 2 everywhere with helicopter



Sounds way different, no?

That's something i like from them, most of their songs vary from each other yet they all fit as a GBV song.

i should mention for the most part their music is like very mellow alternative and sometimes the guitars aren't even tuned properly.

Other times they are beautifully tuned

imo GBV is one of the best alternative bands ive heard, their songs are easy to learn and they teach you how to find the proper vocals a song needs without having to be the greatest singer
