MJ – My Thoughts
I guess in honor of this new album I'll tell my story about how MJ changed my musical outlook.
Well, MJ's been in my life since I was about 5 YEARS-OLD maybe when I practically went to sleep listening to him on the large CD player I had next to my bed. Oh man, the times I listened to Black or White and Billie Jean as a kid, it's in the hundreds easily.
As I got older I started to expand my musical tastes and I delved into more of MJ's songs. Naturally, the first thing I encountered was Thriller, and I discovered Beat It and the song Thriller, and the former became my go-to MJ song for quite a while. The thing I liked about Thriller (the song) was just how atmospheric it was, and how well MJ does in describing a vivid (and creepy) story with his lyrics.
Later on I started listening to Dangerous a LOT, and that has to be my favorite MJ album. Jam, Keep it in the Closet, She Drives Me Wild, Why you wanna Trip on Me, Black or White...those are all songs that are mainstays in my MJ playlists.
Fast forward to last year, I had really stopped listening to Michael Jackson because I was really focused on buying Daft Punk albums, Macklemore, etc.., but after I discovered the Weeknd's D.D., I subsequently discovered the Bad album, and found the tracks Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, and Bad, which I all love and enjoy listening to.
Just a few months ago, I went even further back to Off the Wall and Blood on the Dance Floor, and I had some trouble getting into those albums as easily as I did Bad, Thriller (yeah, no **** I know), and Dangerous, but Rock With You is a song that is steadily growing on me as is a few others.
That's all I have to say about my experiences with MJ. Maybe my parents will buy this new album and I can get it from them. I have to say RealTalk, looking at some of these statistics on album sales (and they are impressive), I am looking forward to this new album.
