And survival has always been the backbone of the show. The zombie apocalypse hasn't ever really be the focus of it, but rather the dealing with, adapating to, and moving forward in the wake of, the apocalypse.
There has been a lot of development of the characters in this season. There has been development of the Carol character as well but in some ways hers had seemed a little more low key. As in hers was kinda straight forward and simple. Her character has changed drastically between the first season and this, but not so much in this season alone when compared some of the others. However, even with that said this episode was a shocker.
I'd had a few theories about what would happen to Carol, Tyreese, Mika and Lizzie but none of them panned out. I didn't see it happening the way it did at all.
