Three quick comments, if I may:-
* Yep, I`d say
maths too, the same way I`d say
physics. Another word that looks plural but works like singular is
the news; "The news is bad, I`m afraid."

. The comments you made about other members were very fair,very perceptive too imo. This is borne out by the fact that your post didn`t generate the kind of ten-page wrangling that this thread is notorious for!
* Like almost everyone here these days, Taxman is a friendly guy ready to share his opinions and chat. I for one will be sorry if he leaves us. What`s up,Taxman? If you`re happy here, why not hang around?
