John Cale, Tony Conrad, Angus Maclise, La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela - Inside the Dream Syndicate

This group is made up of members of the Theatre of Eternal Music, and as their name suggests, they make some incredible drone and avant-garde music. They carry on the ideas of John Cage very well in this album, as it's a 30 minute long drone that's sort of a take on the genre I'ven't seen many other drone artists do. Very good stuff, check it out.

John Cale - Stainless Steel Gamelan

This is a series of John Cale's early recordings from his stint with the Theatre of Eternal Music, and it goes to some very interesting places. There are some keyboard drones, some straight noise bits, and the song "At About This Time Mozart Was Dead And Joseph Conrad Was Sailing The Seven Seas Learning English" is some of Cale's more out there pieces that even make me grimace a bit at points. I think this album is fantastic though.

John Cale - Sun Blindness Music

This one is just keyboard drones, but damn are they beautiful. Cale throws a series of ominous textures at the listener in the opening title track of 45 minutes length, and I think that may be my favourite all time Cale piece. The other two tracks are shorter, but still just as great, and kind of in the same vein.

John Cale - Dream Interpretation

Another series of noise pieces and drones. The opening track, self titled by the name of the album, almost reminds me of some of the stuff I was doing when I had a keyboard and delay pedal (see my album The Gnashing of the Teeth). More great Cale stuff, and I am officially a Reed to Cale convert in terms of favourites.

Many thanks to rostasi for sending me these albums!
