Yeah you're right there. I'm just saying he was asking "what am I missing?" I didn't hear anything on the album that made me go "Oh so THAT'S what it's all about!" I don't particularly care that it evokes the music of the 70s/80s; I just thought I wouldn't like it and then having heard a snatch of it decided to go for the whole thing, and found I did like it. A lot.
Of course people approach albums and music differently. I'm just saying sometimes it may click, sometimes it may not. No matter how good the album is generally seen to be. Case in point: me with "Loveless" and more recently with "Close to the edge".
