In other news, I've decided to go for it and change SiaSL for 2014 from Christian Contemporary (just have to hold that little delight over till next year I guess!) to Jazz.

I'd appreciate any help as I am, as you all know, clueless in this genre. Anyone who wants to research or provide me with information will be credited in the finished article if they so desire. I'll begin sketching out details around March and hope to launch the finished article sometime around maybe July, though all this is quite fluid and could go either way.

So, any tips?
Well, there are a lot of different subgenres of jazz. A LOT. Most of the recommendations you are going to get around here from the other members is harder, 50's-60's post-bop or experimental cool jazz stuff (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Art Blakey, etc.). If you want recommendations in jazz-fusion and contemporary jazz, I'm the guy to talk to.

My suggestion would be to build a list of albums of different jazz genres from a combination of those that have gotten a lot of critical acclaim as well as recommendations from people you trust. You can review them over time in your journal and we'll all give ya feedback of course.
