Is there really anything better to talk about than the music that was made in a place that you've lived your whole life? Nope. So, i'll briefly discuss some bands and albums that I enjoy that came from my home town of Seattle. I know what you're thinking "oh god, here comes the Nirvana!" And although I will post some, i'll be posting a lot others, just wait for it.
Anyway, let's get right down to it:
First on the list is Queensryche, pretty much due to the fact that they are my band of choice this evening, and I may as well also mention the album i'm listening to:
Operation: Mindcrime
This album is just every inch of fantastic. It just packs a punch full of power and prog in one big iron fist. This one in particular is a concept album relating to politics, etc. So if you're into that sort of thing, it's definitely something you want to check out, as the lyrics are very well written. Nothing beats the heavy riffs that you get from the guitarist, though, but that's always to be expecting with Queensryche.
It's strange to mention them though, because I feel like they deserve far more popularity than they currently have. Maybe I don't see much of it as there actually is, but it always feels like i'm pulling their name from the bottom of the pile when I want to talk about them. I know plenty of people listen to them and know of them, but are they really receiving the hype that they deserve? Perhaps not. But that could just be me over thinking things.
I like to keep these things brief as not to bore you with wording and let you get right to the music, so i'll post something to really get you to feel what they have to offer, although I'd suggest checking out their albums on their own since choosing a concept album to showcase them isn't always the greatest idea, but hey, I didn't want to switch albums yet, so deal with it! I'll talk about Empire in another post if that makes things better.
Anyway, song:
