Amy is a St. Bernard. As for getting a Great Dane, we were actually trying to rescue a few, however it just never worked out. The first one was abused and needed to be with an experienced dog owner. The second one was adopted under us while we were transporting the first Dane to their new home. The third one was rescued from doggy death row after he snapped at a child in his foster home (the kid deserved it, she kept trying to ride him like a pony, painted his nails, and otherwise was just kind of a dick to him). He's now in the same place as the first Dane and is getting better, but still needs time.
Amy is actually more my mum's dog, however I am doing a lot of the work with training and raising her. Really she's a family dog, but when I leave here in June she'll be staying. When I'm in a position to get my own dog, I am definitely leaning towards a Dane.
