At the Drive-In were awesome. Relationship of Command is probably the most listened to record I own.
I really like the Mars Volta album, it's a cd where they've clearly tried to do something new and fresh, whereas Sparta is a more obvious progression from the ATDI sound, however last year both bands played the Reading Festival, and Sparta were off the hook, and Mars Volta were woeful, just playing fifteen minutes of self-serving jazz before playing three or four bars of one of their songs. It was a real pity that.
For anyone who loved At the Drive-In I'd recommend a British band called Hundred Reasons. Sparta have supported them over here before, and that was an incredible show. Jim Ward is king.
