A good surprise choice.

Football I always find follows certain trends. For example no European team has won the WC on the American continent and likewise no Latin American team has won the WC on European soil. The two times it went elsewhere to Asia and Africa it finished equal with a Latin American victory and then with a European one.
Therefore like Goofle I can't see anybody but Brazil or Argentina winning here but if I were to pick a surprise I pick Uruguay as well, huge tradition and almost playing at home in Brazil. they're a far better choice than either Chile or Ecuador BUT Mexico could be one to watch here.

And by backed I mean, forgot to use the free 50 quid bet to back them at those odds when they were struggling to qualify.

Being older than you guys, I can remember Argentina back in 1986 who despite having the world's best player in Maradona struggled through their qualifiers and had poor results in their friendlies but they clicked in the finals and went onto win the whole thing, personally I thought it was one of the best world cups that I've ever seen.

The popular surprise choice seems to be Belgium also.

The best Belgian team since the era of Enzo Scifo in the 1980s, but I can't see them getting much further than the first knock-out phase.

As said should breeze through their group.

Sadly I agree.
