Well actually that's not true. Channel 4 go all out for it, although usually admittedly only the Superbowl, and MOTD mention it when it's on. But generally, no, it's not given as much airtime as soccer, tennis, snooker, F1 or a million other sports.
Serious question for you Americans: are there no goalkeepers in AF? Seems all the guy has to do is run down towards the touchline(?) with the ball, fight off those trying to stop him and cross it. Is there nobody specifically assigned to stopping him in the same was as there is with football, hockey, hurling and so on?
