It didn't, the bastards just stole the damn word. I wouldn't be surprised if all those vans warped tour clone bands had at least heard of Fugazi/Dischord & Company but there's no discernible musical lineage if you ask me. Just kids being kids, taking things for themselves and not respecting history because if they didn't they'd have to be normal. The horror!
