Personally I wouldn't vote for any band that build it's musical reputation on the quality of their face painting. When Kiss first came out they primarily appealed to 12-15 year kids as a teeny-bopper version of glam rock bands like the New York Dolls and Alice Cooper. I wouldn't vote for Kiss or like them anymore than you do, but that wasn't really the point. Performance is considered a part of what rock' n' roll is and Kiss are pretty much known for that. The hall of fame target rock icons primarily. Kiss have a gimmick. Kiss have an image. Kiss are hard rock' n' roll. Kiss had a huge reception. Kiss are
iconic. That's why it's a bit surprising in my opinion.
