Both of those words carry a meaning. Both are used to insult people, in a very narrow, very specific context. They both carry a lot of weight and a lot of hate.
You can choose to ignore that and consider them both to be generic insults if you wish, but you really shouldn't be so surprised when some people take offence. You know what those words mean. It's your choice to ignore their meaning, you can't expect everyone else to follow you.
