I don't know, but I would assume all rights to the music passes to them, and they can act on that retroactively. Just as Jackson could have, technically, sued people for using Beatles music, even if they bought it when the Beatles were going? I would expect that they basically get the right to do whatever they damn well like with their new power.

I could be wrong of course, but it sort of doesn't make sense any other way. The same way Viacom could go after copyright on Star Trek after they bought Paramount. And so on.
