I pushed Dead Kennedys to a second vote in this thread. Despite all of the crap that went after 1986, my vote is based on the time they were among one of the best bands ever. Inventive, influential, darkly humorous, thought-provoking, and just plain great.

So many great choices, so little time - a lot of double plus great bands on there but for some reason or another they were not chosen.

The Stooges are a major influence and their first three albums still rank as serious classic to this day and Metallic KO certainly is a trip through Hell (one for serious fans only). Even some of Iggy's Mid 70's stuff with James Williamson was good and almost up to level. Still, there were other things to consider for my vote.
I love The Misfits for their attack and the years with Danzig although recent events dulled the edge.
I always salute the best of the Damned, but then there was albums like Anything (I flip flop on Music for Pleasure).
Crass I highly respect for what they did and contributed to Punk, but at times they took it too seriously despite the wit and inventiveness.
The Buzzcocks are what Punk Pop should be, and their return was one of the better ones. I still have not found anything to criticize about - their first life was short and sweet and their reunion was just as grand. This is a band that made me wish there was allowances for additional choices.

I love X, Social Distortion, The Avengers (CLASSIC!), Black Flag (the crap that's going on really lowered them for this list, but I will always respect their classics - Damaged!), SLF, The Clash...damn it about 2/3 of this list.

Yeah, I'm stretching this a little...
