I'm a primary school teacher...but I work at a school in a very low socio-economic area with families who are either new refugees or from generational poverty. There's a lot of unpleasant situations and a lot of liaising with DHS, not to mention a lot of pressure from the government and higher forces to get these kids literate... you also end up spending a lot of time intervening and working with them in their personal lives as well as their education, all of this as unpaid extra hours of course!
