How awful. When I was a child I had the privilege of socialising with a range of different children from different kinds of families and different backgrounds and I cherish those friends that I made and life lessons that I learnt...

I actually had the same experience, I was crushing on a Brazilian transfer at high school, had Asian and Egyptian friends. When I got to University and lived in a hall of residence with 162 people I was overwhelmed with wonderful people who were of different race and cultures, it was fantastic! I remember doing the 40 hour famine with a Korean guy who was spending 40 hours on a mattress in the lift. I joined him to do 40 hours of not talking! That was tough but we ended up hooking up between people using the lift hahaha.
