I love all facets of music, but one area that I do really enjoy is...

Video Game Music

When I was growing up, video game music was only limited to simple, often repetitive melodies by early sound synthesizer technology. Today, video game music has expanded to include the same breadth and complexity associated with television and movie soundtracks. I'm going share with you some of my favourites. I don't know how I will be able to possibly choose, and I will likely have several posts to include everything, but I will give it a start here!

The Elder Scrolls
Putting aside the fact that the Elder Scrolls games are awesome, I simply adore the beautiful soundtracks. I've been playing a lot of Skyrim recently, so I'll focus on the more recent soundtracks, even though they incorporate melodies and themes from the past games as well.

Spoiler for Skyrim/Elder Scrolls Music:

*swoon* So freakin' beautiful.

Love all of the beautiful covers and renditions that others have produced also.

How can I not include Malukah's beautiful rendition of "The Dragonborn Comes"?

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
Spoiler for Assassin's Creed Music:

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Spoiler for Wind Waker Music:

Mass Effect 3
Spoiler for Mass Effect Music:

Halo
Spoiler for Halo Music:

There are many, many more but I have to stop somewhere! I don't know why I love these video game soundtracks so much, the music is beautiful but maybe it is also because I associate it with some sort of emotional or sentimental connection with the game - I don't know. Anyway, now that I've posted a heap, what are your favourites?
