I have so many good memories of reading Anne Rice's vampire novels. Lestat is one of, if not my favorite, literary character of all time. But for some reason I just never got around to reading her Mayfair witches novels. Well, I was a ****ing moron cause I'm about a hundred pages in and totally absorbed. It's mostly been flashbacks and back story so far and yet she's made it in no way dull, or let it hurt the narrative flow. She just manages to draw you in bit by bit by giving you just enough information to kind of know what's going on, but not enough that you're ever satisfied, so you're always waiting breathlessly for every little tid bit. The only bad thing is that since I've already read
Blood Canticle, I already have a very general idea of what's going on, but it still manages to hook me.
