Music Banter - View Single Post - Last album you bought, downloaded or listened to

Here's the last few notable things I've listened to on Spotify.

Aradhana Deep Jale (2000)

This album is basically traditional Indian religious music fused with American folk music. Every song features lyrics completely in Hindi (beside the very last one, for some reason). It's actually really interesting and a very fun listen, with sitars, Indian percussion, acoustic guitar, and violin being featured in most songs, with the occasional drum kit and an electric guitar features in a song or two. I thought it was pretty good, though there was a moment where they went from the quiet spiritual music that filled most of a record to what was basically a 70's southern rock song sung in Hindi. Not a bad song, but a bizarre choice, especially where it was placed in the album. Still, a decent little record.

Sun Ra Live At Praxis '84

The Sun Ra Arkestra at their swingiest. The band is funky, groovy, and decidedly hilarious. They have a great take on "Mack The Knife" with a Louis Armstrong imitation that could literally make you laugh out loud. I assume everyone here knows who Sun Ra is, and what he sounds like, so I won't go into detail. This record was great, if you like ol' Sunny, and you've never given it a listen, please do.

Floex Pocustone (2013)

This was actually Floex's debut record back in 2000 or something like that, but it was just reissued. Floex is a Czech jazz clarinetist who took a liking to electronic ambient music but didn't want to give up on his clarinet so he decided to do both... at the same time. The result is mesmerizing, and truly awesome to listen to if you're a fan of either genre. I personally prefer his other album, but this was still top notch.

Glenn Miller & His Orchestra On The Air: Volume One

Glenn Miller was a jazz trombonist and big band leader. I assume most here knows that, so no details for you. This is just a collection of various live radio recordings of he and his Orchestra. It's real good. It has a few tracks that are essentially the same save a few live differences or a different featured singer, but that's not really a problem. Good album.

Melt Yourself Down Melt Yourself Down

Okay. I'm going to let the Last.FM description and various quotes from the comment section explain this. "Afrocentric jazz-tinged tribal pop with avant-garde tendencies and no little funk."

Basically, it's amazing, and if you care about good music at all, you should be listening to it right now.

I've listened to a lot more good stuff recently, but I'm done now, this taking awhile.
