I agree that it has been become somewhat 'cool' not to get behind the national team. At least it seems that way to me. I can't really blame someone who basically sees little to no passion from the squad and so mirrors the same dedication right back. If thats how they feel then fine. However, as you say, a lot of people start to get behind them when we arent doing so badly and this infuriates me when they haven't had a single positive thing to say about them for months or years before this.
Even if its not 'cool' as such, I cannot stand when I say I'm off to watch the England game, or say I'm looking forward to an England game, and someone, a football fan, an English football fan, will criticise me for it. "What you gonna watch them for?"
If I'm ever fortunate enough to see England win a European Championship or World Cup in my lifetime, I fully intend to slap any smile I see on these individuals faces right off, and put an end to celebration they intend to have.
