I've never really understood why Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny are seen as such polar opposites. It's as if one is considered a total disaster and one is considered a metal classic.
Other than the song writing being a little better on Sad Wings I don't see an awful amount of difference between the two.

Musically the differences are not huge but the debut is an example of when a band has the sound but the whole thing ends up being totally unfocused and badly planned. I never remembered the album being any good either and when I listened to it prior to listening to the
Sad Wings of Destiny for the review I almost fell asleep on at least two occasions, something I can't imagine doing with any other Judas Priest album.
